The Odessa Fire Rescue Protection District is a progressive, innovative combination emergency services department established in 1993. The district encompasses approximately 105 square miles of Southwest Lafayette County which includes the entire city of Odessa. The district borders the cities of Bates City, Wellington, Mayview, Higginsville and Johnson County Missouri.

We provide fire, rescue and advanced life support (ALS) ambulance service from our headquarters located at 301 W Dryden in Odessa. Our apparatus consists of two ambulances, two engines, two tankers, one ladder truck and three brush units.

Our staff is comprised of Fire Chief Kimberlee Shook and Assistant Chief Roger Kratz. Nine career shift personnel that hold the ranks of Captain, Firefighter/Paramedic and Firefighter/EMT and twenty five  part-time personnel. Personnel are assigned to three twenty four hour shifts (A, B, & C).
